Integrative
Medicine Integrative Medicine is the blending of conventional medicine with holistic, complementary, and alternative medicine. Integrative Medicine is defined as healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person (body, mind, heart and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative.
Integrative Medicine is a recognized area of medicine that is currently being incorporated into the educational and training programs at many top US medical schools, The Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine includes prestigious schools such as Harvard, Stanford, Duke, Columbia, Albert Einstein University, University of Arizona, Georgetown, and many others. The primary goal of Integrative Medicine is to maximize each individual's ability to experience optimal vitality and wellness, whatever his or her current state of health. Click Here

If you would like an integrative medicine consult with Dr. Stram at CIHH, you should plan on spending approximately 90 minutes reviewing your health history and concerns as part of a comprehensive medical intake process. You will then come back for a follow-up appointment during which you will review together a written treatment plan.
During this session, the goal is to come to agreement on a plan that will address your specific current and future health needs and concerns. Clinical Nutrition The practitioners at the Center recognize that diet is often the basis for your heath and your potential to heal. Adopting a healthy diet is often the first step towards correcting health problems. Many medical conditions can be treated more effectively when the patient implements specific diets and uses nutritional supplements. These interventions afford fewer complications and side effects than some pharmaceutical treatments and are often more beneficial. The doctors at the Center will create an individual plan with specific dietary recommendations. They are skilled in teaching you about foods and specific diets such as elimination diets, cleansing diets, anti-inflammatory diets, gluten-free diets, along with safe and effective fasting programs. Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy, practiced at the Center, works with the craniosacral system, which consists of the brain, spinal cord, membranes and the fluid within it. This fluid has a pulse or rhythm not unlike the pulse of the circulatory or respiratory systems. After the body experiences a trauma such as a fall or accident or has been in a cycle of repeated stress, the rhythm within the craniosacral system can be disrupted and a restriction can occur in the natural flow of this fluid.
Through light touch and gentle manipulation of areas on the head and throughout the body including the spine, a trained practitioner can detect where the natural flow is restricted and facilitate a release where flow is then restored.
